Well its a 1989 FJ62.I have decided to give up on the electric windows as they go out on me after fixing the drivers last year. The passenger went out a couple weeks ago...of course when it was down. I ordered a fj60 window regulator and crank handle, thought it would be a direct bolt in but after getting it in there it doesn't look like its going to be that easy.I have searched but cant find anything about the mods necessary to make them work. Has anyone done this in the past? Just trying to see if there was a thread somewhere im missing, interior pictures of a converted door would be amazing. Thanks fellas

I did it.

I converted my fj62 to manual windows....it's a complete bolt in, plug and play swap.
I too got very tired of the broken switches that I had successfully repaired a few times, got tired of the slow windows, got tired of needing to find my keys to put the windows up during a downpour or while sleeping in the truck.
All that and I like things with 3rd world type of reliability and simplicity....speaking of, one of these years I'll ditch my auto and put in the 5 speed thats in the garage.

Anyway, the window regulators bolt right in to the door frames and existing glass track. There is some crossover from the late 60s to the early 62's. Some 62's came with manual windows. The later 60's ('87) came with the same interior fabric as the 62's.
With some patience and time, I sourced all parts from right here on Mud, including matching interior door panels for the manual windows...complete factory swap. I still need to wire my power locks to a switch in the dash.

I miss the convenience of the power windows on the highway...no big deal though.
My kids love the crank windows!:bounce:

Ahhh, figured it out. The 60 regulator goes in more cockeyed than the automatic one. Was one of those projects where you need to step away and get back at it the next day. Appreciate the help. May I suggest to anyone considering this swap. DO IT!! so simple and now I have one less electric gremlin to deal with.

been there done that. easy to do.

just dont do this:

Picture 1: I had already installed the manual regulator into my passenger front door. I held the old power 62 regulator next to it. If you look at the bolt pattern on the power one I'm holding you can see the bolt pattern on the door.
The manual one fit right in with existing bolt holes, just a little cockeyed compared to how the 62 fit in. Also, only 3 bolts fit in because of the shape of the door but it seems plenty sturdy to me.

Picture 2: You can see the entire manual regulator installed in a 62 door

Picture 3: This is the back of a 62 door panel. The circular hole you see is where the handle will attach. I cut a small X with a razor blade and it slid right through.

Picture 4: This is the finished product, the hole is there from the power switch but it doesn't bother me enough to do something about it at this point.

Hope this helps someone who is considering/curious about a manual window swap in their 62.

All you needed for this was the regulator and the handle, correct? I'm currently fantasy-adding things to a shopping cart on SOR.com. So far, I have aftermarket manual regulators for all 4 doors and a 4 pack of aftermarket regulator handles. Do I need any other parts? This is coming out to around $350 from SOR but I'm open to suggestions if anyone has them. I am sick and tired of the electric crappy regulators and switches I continuously clean or replace. This is my daily driver so I want it to be in as usable shape as possible. Thanks ahead of time, as I realize this is an older thread!

Super late to this thread, but I just went all manual windows in my fj62. This thread was the push I needed. As stated it was super easy. I bought the rear regulators off eBay and bought Dorman brand regulators for the front. So much better. I was dreading digging into the electric windows to try and make them work faster. I still have the electric motors and electric regulators if anyone is in need. Thanks.
