Hi All,

Relocated my power steering reservoir to fit the slee second batt tray and noticed the power steering reservoir is in very rough shape, burnt looking with crackled upper plastic, looks like it wants to disintegrate from the inside out. New OEM is $160 but there are some really nice aluminum aftermarket ones for much less. My question is can I just replace it with an aftermarket unit? do I have to take into account amount of oil the reservoir holds? if so how?

I imagine lots of folks are eventually going to need to replace this, its aging plastic and its already not looking good I would rather replace it now then have it spring a leak somewhere.

Thanks,

I see no problem using an aftermarket tank except, most I've seen don't have a screen/filter. Also, the barbs might not be the same, exact size (but perhaps close enough in this application).

Still on the search but check out this sweet thang:

Been almost a decade lol, but wondering if you were able to find a reservoir that worked? Looking to replace my lc100 ps reservoir in the next week or so

Just replaced mine a few weeks back. Used GM part # 92202130. Around $50 on rock auto.

Just ordered the GM one! Thanks y'all. I was also wondering, did you guys use any aftermarket replacements for hose 44348-60240? This is the hose that goes from the pump to the reservoir.

Was planning to buy OEM, but it's around $90 for a 5/8 rubber hose that is barely a foot long

I went with the OEM hose. For me this was the hose that was leaking and the whole reason for this job in the first place, so I splurged. From everything else I read, the OEM hose isn't necessary. 5/8" ID transmission cooler hose worked just fine for others.

I did buy an OEM 44348-60240 but I can't remember where. The pump to rack hard line setup I got the one from rockauto.

From personal experience, the cheaper aftermarket PS reservoir is identical with the EOM except the cap, the AM cap that comes with the reservoir has a little play. Just reuse your old OEM cap which is a snug fit.
