Just looking for some help to identify the power steering in my 76 FJ40. Would like to replace it or possibly send it to a reputable shop that could do the rebuild for me. I’m not well versed with P/S so any help would be greatly appreciated.

No clue but this one looks like it. 79 would be a OEM PS pump, before that someone modified it. Look for PS build threads. Carefully inspect your unit for tags or other numbers that identify it.

That does look like a pretty good replacement! I’ll have a better look at mine for any identifying numbers. Those were just a few pictures on my phone from over the years. Thank you for the quick response and providing the link!

A side note, you appear to have a Caliornia spec 40.

I think that he actually has a Canadian spec. Identified by the unique air inlet hose.
And yes, that looks like a 3FE pump. We do have them in stock, new OEM! Just shoot us an email for international shipping!
Could be that Canadian spec == Cali spec? The Cali spec 76/77 40s had the large front corner carb cooling fans and therefore that small rubber air horn inlet.

My understanding is that this 40 was imported into Canada in the late 70’s from the USA. I purchased it from the family of the first Canadian owner as it never changed hands. The air cleaner in the third picture isn’t the original air cleaner. If you’re asking about that short rubber elbow I’ll see if I can find it!

Thanks for the reply. Your website was the first one that popped up when I did a search. I might have found one locally but not confirmed. I can post the vin and that might clarify if it truly is a California Spec
Does it still have the sticker on the under side of the hood? If so, is it black with white lettering or white with black lettering? Post a pic.
