If you were adding Saginaw P.S. using the stock column and stock "3 on the tree", your upper universal joint would end up so far out from the firewall that the new steering drive shaft would route through the frame rail, you'd need to mount your upper universal joint up higher so that it would then route the steering drive shaft inward (closer to engine) and away from the frame rail.
