Hello there!

New to the LC community! Recently graduated with my Master's and landed a promotion! My present?? My very first Land Cruiser! I have been researching for years and wanted to originally buy a an FJ, then realized how small that second row is, then I considered the 100 series. However, financing is limited with 2007 cars so I started researching 200 series. I think I found one and wanted to ask yall's opinion on it. It is in NJ and has lived in NJ for its life. I know buying for the north can result in rust. I was hoping that since the mileage is so low it might now be so bad. Here is the link to the post: Thank you so much for your thoughts.

Seems to be in good shape. The frame and underside parts are what you want a closer look at.

I'm usually a little cautious about dealer pictures - they can put a nice spit and polish detail that makes a car seem better than it really is.

Yes I was going to ask them to send some pictures of the underside. True true about the dealer pictures! Thanks for the reply!

The price is great. When I was looking last year in CA I came across a 2011 with 100k miles at a Toyota dealership, interior was worn, well used to put it bluntly and needed new tires. they wanted $35k for it and wouldn’t budge much on the price. I am glad I passed and later found a clean 2013 that never left the pavement. 2013 brought on some updates (infotainment, safety, crawl control and I believe also better headlights). If those updates appeal to you it may be worth looking at 2013 and newer if it’s within the budget. be sure to Check for rust and the radiator for a crack.

Just noticed the dealers website has the link to the carfax. Shows accident reported. Definitely try and find out the extend of the damage and if they have access to the repair work order.

Looks nice. Definitely want undercarriage pics.
Also - if I was still looking for a 200 I would probably buy this thing out from under you. And I’m a nice guy. So... you may want to think twice about linking to it.

I didn't see a Carfax or Autocheck on the web site? Don't trust what the dealer tells you; get one or both of those run on the VIN. Undercarriage photos will tell the whole story on rust.

Interesting Carfax. Looks like it was kept at the original dealer for about 2 years and 6800 miles. It was in an accident with unknown damage. There are no service records for about 50,000 miles from 48K to 97K. The Toyota dealer at that mileage took title and kept it for about a month, then auctioned it off. The current used-vehicle dealer that bought it at auction has had it for sale since last March. This one will need a good PPI in addition to the usual things to check for (as posted in many other threads).

I had an inspection done on this cruiser prior to buying my 2010 in Texas.

The underside has rust. It has been covered with an undercoating to attempt to cover much of it. The guy inspecting it was able to remove the goop with a simple scraper to show a lot of rust. There was also rust on the lower inside of the tailgate. Many bolts along the front were rusted to the point that they wouldn't come off easily. The sunroof didn't open correctly, it would open but almost as if it was stuck on the right side. The inside looks great, as you would expect from low mileage cruiser. The rust scared me, though I would have loved the newer model and lower miles.

Just to clarify, you had an inspection performed on this particular Cruiser linked above?

You know I did think about that, and I thought oh these LC people must be salt of the earth people they wouldn't do that! ;). I'll heed your advice though for next time!

I forgot to add to my previous post; age and care are much more relevant to rust than miles.

Yes, sorry for poorly communicating that.

This one appeared to have some rust that was covered up. I can’t afford rust.
