I bought a 92 Toyota pickup that was totally neglected by the P/O. The perfect farm truck... SR5, 22re, 4WD. Anyway, I am fixing what does not work, and the heater/AC is one of the many things that need attention.
I replaced the missing controls and now everything there works as it should, including the blower motor. However even on high there is barely any air coming out of the vents. Where do I look for the blockage? I had the dash apart for cleaning and all the ducts seem fine, so I suspect the A/C unit, or anything after that. I had the blower motor out and everything is ok there.
Is there a filter between the A/C and the rest of the vents? I am not opposed to pulling the whole thing apart again, but some pointers would be nice. A/C is not charged anyway...

cheers,
thanks,
Jan

There is no filter in these systems, air goes from the blower motor, through the AC evaporator coil, then through the heater box. If you pull out the blower you can see the face of the evap coil to see if it is blocked. It's difficult to remove for cleaning as it requires having the refrigerant evacuated.

If you're sure the ducts and coils are clear, I would remove the wiper arms and the cowl, check the intake. It is likely clogged with leaves and pine needles.

Update: I cleaned out the intake and still no air...
So I pulled the A/C evaporator, and the fins of the cooling element were totally clogged with at least 4 different dogs and remains of other critters.
Cleaned it as well as possible, and now the air flow is good.
Thanks everyone,
Jan
