Woody,

For about a week, maybe two, PM notifications are coming in delayed, by about 30-40 minutes. for example, it shows it arrived in my Inbox @ 6:48PM, but I got the email notification @ 7:27PM. Previously, it was instantaneously. My email is a gmail account, so it's not the MSN issue. Has anyone else noticed this or said anything?

PS- missed you at roundup

I'm experiencing the same. Instant notifications are taking much longer than usual. Came here to see what was up.

Some things to check that may help with your diagnosis. I dont know your configurations, so this is purely from a black box perspective.

-what changes have you done in the last 2 weeks? were there any upgrade done?
-does the system use a cron(like) job or a trigger to alert the user that a message has been sent. If a cron job, check that they are still configured correctly. If a trigger event, then it's probably something vBulletin has to fix
-DST issue perhaps when the clocks were moved forward
-check with vBulletin to see if this is a bug introduced recently; they may be aware of it and are working on a patch/fix

Hope this helps and let me know if I can help you at all

nothing has changed with the configuration/software....the only possible is a DST issue...will look more into that...

Checking with vB is a useless effort...they are working solely on the 4.x branch, and 3.8.x is no longer getting bug fixes. Sadly, the 4.x branch sucks...other admins I speak with have few positives to say about it...

DST stuff is all set correctly...

Just did a quick look, I get 100's of bounce messages nightly from the forum...everything is set to process in batches so nothing gets overloaded...possible these instant notifications are getting batch-sent to prevent server lockup.

hard to track issues with something i don't use too :)

Tracked down an issue with the mail server...had a custom patch installed, then updated the backend software, and the patch no longer worked. Tracked it down yesterday and the server is presently cleaning itself of 5GB of bounced mail.

Should have things back to normal in a day or two.

I have received 2 PMs this morning and they were sent immediately. Nice work and thanks!
