Good day and Happy New Year. My Steering box was leaking so i rebuilt with new seals.
With front wheel raised, engine off, i can turn to full right lock OK, and OK turning to left lock. From left lock, when rotating the steering wheel right, it moves half a revolution before the road wheel starts to turn. At this time the input shaft to the gearbox is also turning. If i try this with the engine on, i can turn the steering wheel this half a turn and then it locks, and stops me from turning right any more, it can go left that half a turn.
Also I can not get the lines to line up on the pittman.
If the wheels are on the ground, and they have resistance, it doesn't lock up.
Maybe I made a mistake in the rebuild.
I only noticed this when I decided to raise the front a bleed some more, prior to that I drove it around the block and it seemed to drive OK, and there was no resistance or lock up.
Any comments appreciated.
