Hey guys, I've been looking for some places to go out to find some snow and get some snow pictures for a friend who wants biiiig snowy prints and im considering going up to Campbell River to get into Strathcona, is there anyone in the VI cruisers who knows what the conditions are like, where the :mad:Gates are, and how active the logging is?

hopefully will be commencing this :steer:trip mid/late Januaray:bounce:

I don't know much about the park, but I think to get good pictures you'll have to snow shoe in there. Just look at the bc park website to find trails. I don't think there are reallly any roads into that park anyhow. Also, I've been watching the Mt. Washington ski resort snow report to get an idea of how much snow is at high elevation. Last I looked it was only 25cm base. You might want to wait a bit.

I went in to Strathcona from the south this summer, north of Great Central Lake. I would expect snow. The old road I picked was in need of pruning. My brother and I bailed on that, too much like work at the time and went fishing instead, cause fishing always beats slash cutting!
Bring you backroad mapbook next weekend, I'll show you where I've been and what I know up there.
Not much, but a little. I've got distances marked out in mine.
Do you want pictures of snow with or without Landcruisers in them?

I was just at the top of Mt. Cokely (right beside Mt arrowsmith) last year there was 5 feet of snow and now there was no snow at the very top. I think the snow is coming in later this year
