Yeah the flares are tricky. On my first cruiser, I took them off and spent a good deal of time working on the lines left by the adhesive meeting dirt/dust. I'm in the auto industry & have the various compounds, buffers, etc... and I was never satisfied. On my 2nd Cruiser, I left them on for those reasons. I know a lot of guys on this board think they're gay, but I could never stop looking at the lines left on my first LC.
I personally believe that a mental adjustment is desirable - nay necessary - when owning a LC. One has to be able to live with a flaw, scratch or a ding in there. If not, and your rig is always kept pristine, you will lose out on the enjoyment of doing what separates it from the rest: taking it offroad. If you're worried about the tiniest scratch, you can't enjoy yourself on the beach, in the woods, in the desert. In fact, I think the first noticeable flaw will set you free! Enjoy!

Good point. Once I pinstriped the sides and roof and started my never ending array of "anonymous" scratches and dings from parking attendents, I was set free. Of course that's not to say I don't wash and clean it constantly.
