Well if you ever get a 40 and decide on pink try to see if powder coating would do the trick...
You got a cool dad... wish mine had been anything like yers.. !!

Don't forget to use a proper primer on anything aluminum or the paint wont stick. Try an aircraft primer from NAPA. (trans) first clean well with a brake-kleen type of cleaner and then use a fine steel wool to pollish the aluminum housing to a smooth finish (should take you at least 4 hours of solid work and elbow grease) then wipe with a slightly damp cloth to remove all debris before the aircraft primer, once all that is done and dry, any type of paint you want will do but high temp will last longest and look the best. As for the cast iron eingine any high temp eingine paint worth its price is going to have a small element of ceramic mixed in it so the hotter you get it the smoother and glossier it'll look. Same prep work is needed less the aircraft primer.
