If one was to buy a pig, what would be considered the 'primo' years? I've noticed in some recent threads that some years had barn doors as an option, anyone know what years those were available?
Is there a list somewhere of the 55 evolution? No stickies above on it anyways.

Best pig years...

My personal favorite is 1977 because it's the last year of the COOL tail lights!:hillbilly:
74 was the first yr of the 4spd, 75 the 2f eng and then 76 was the first yr they got everything right i.e. disc brakes, 2f and 4spd (which is the same evolution that the 40's had). You always want to make sure that you atleast get disc's and 4spd trans because 3spd's and drums are crap (these IRON PIGS are heavy and you need every advantage you can get!). But alot of older ones have been converted so you don't want to rule them out, just find out what it's got. Having said all that I would have to say the most important thing to look for is one with as little rust as possible because that's the tuffest thing to over come.
As for barn doors I'm not sure about those because we only got tail gates in the US. I don't ever see them around here and I'm not sure what yrs they were available out side the US.

Anyway, happy hunting and I'm Glad your planning on joining the heard!:pig:

I would put disc brakes on it, lift it atleast 4", put some 35's on it, lock it and wheel it!!!:hillbilly:

Buuuut that's just me!

Oh and I would snag those CURTAINS out of it and THEN wheel it!!!:grinpimp:

Jeff,
I had no idea you have a 55 hidden away.I figured Cruiser Guy was the only other 55 owner in the Coastal Cruisers.
I've been slowly working on mine and hope to have a decent driver /
off road rig by '08.
I'll talk to you at the next meeting.I get the best 55 info from this forum and from other 55 owners.
BTW-your Pig looks pretty good in that pic.

Steve.
