Aluminum foldable stand. Figured I could use as a camp sink basin holder? I need to find a bowl now approx 12-13" in diameter. Stand is 32" tall, very light and folds flat into nice nylon bag. $35 what the he**

Does the nylon bag act as the bowl?

Perhaps the bowl is some type of "waxed" duck canvas material?

Cool Stand. You can find a stainless steel bowl easily at a restaurant supply wahrehouse. They have them in just about every size you can imagine. You should pick up a large plastic cutting board while you are there, cut a circle shape of wood that fits inside the ring of the stand, glue to the back of the cutting board and make yoursef a little table to boot! Good luck.

Anyone know what the heck this thing is called?

It's a wash stand that came with a canvass bowl but was quickly replace with the old steel pot from a helmet.

It's called a "Ring Stand" we had dozens of them in the Army medical unit I was in. For each stand there was a stainless steel basin, the basin was wrapped in surgical wrap then autoclaved. When needed for surgery the basin was place in the stand then the wraps were opened revealing the sterile basin. Sterile fluids were poured in for irrigation. God luck finding the basins, unless you can find them surplus, as the are obsolete, these days we use disposable plastic.

yeah, I will just buy a 12.25-12.5" bowl either molded plastic, metal and that will work. I dont need the original basin

thanks

Check the restaurant supply places, one of the pots used on steamers to keep soup warm might just fit.

It would be cool if you could just sew a waterproof fabric directly to the ring...
