Back then it was 35x12.5 BFG MT's on widened (to 15x8) stock FJ40 rims. Still run the same tires but on 15x10" wagon wheels, now getting ready to switch to 37x12.5's on steel 15x8's with custom backspacing.

Wheels are my Waterloo, the old girl's had six sets of rims in 13 years and this will be the seventh (hopefully the last ones)....

Its gonna look just right with 37s..........................

I'm just getting it ready for Phase III, I bet you most people won't even recognize it when I'm done. I've been hoarding parts for two years while I concentrated on family and work, now that things have stabilized somewhat, I'm getting back to my Cruiser roots and putting the old girl through some much needed R&R.

Cheers!

No, nothing that extreme, I'm building an all-around long-distance wheeling rig, not an extreme rock-crawler. It already has pretty good articulation, good enough for what I'm going to use it for. I am fortifying the drivetrain, regearing, adding a crawler box, doing some steel fabrication, making some interior mods, even changing the color on it.

Here's another pic of it farting around at my friend's shop, the mini-ramps are 24" tall and there was still flex to go. Besides, this is without taking the quick disconnects off of the front antisway bar.

I have 35s on my rig and they look way too tiny..I hit bump stops before my wheel rubs so 37s it is.are those lifted springs? awesome truck man...i just need to fab up some more protection and our trucks wont look to far off from each other....keep up the good work

Henry, how are the springs holding up?

So far so good, Gary, but I haven't done much wheeling, so they haven't been really tweaked. The ride is incredible, I am in your debt!

'Ppreciate the offer, but I'm no hard-core wheeler. I've had this FJ62 for thirteen years, driven four countries and 39 states, 260,000 miles, and plan to keep it for at least 13 years more and add more countries and states to the list.

I'm more of a long trip, self-sufficient, expedition type of wheeling guy instead, here's the old girl with her companion offroad trailer:

Exiled,
your rig looks awesome, you make that trailer?

37s are nice. They seem to be the largest (diameter) tire that will tuck into a wagons fenders without trimming (see pic). They are a huge upgrade over my old BFG mts. I'd definitly recommend them.

What wheel width and back spacing did you go with? What springs did you go with? Any body lift? I assume you're SOA.
