Doug got me researching on the heater hoses. Doesn't the PHH come off the block?
No, the PHH connects to the cylinder head, not the block as everyone seems to think.

I don't even know how so many people call this incorrectly either, its clearly attached to an aluminum portion of the engine.

Oh well.

So you're replacing the preformed hoses (with 90 and 180 degree bends) with straight OEM and Gates hoses? That seems a little loose for you... but it's been okay?

Keep in mind I do not have that 180 degree hose due to the turbo kit, and the 90 degree gates 1/2 is really in between both the standard and metric sizes (its a super tight 1/2) ; the parts manager at NAPA explained that this is somewhat standard nowadays, in fact on this particular hose the standard and metric measurements are both listed. Anyways, it is working without any problem. HTH.

I guess what I was worried about is the hoses collapsing or flattening out in the bend areas. As long as it work's, that's great. The preformed hoses are alot more pricey. I may get some to have on hand as spare at least.

I wish it was on the block. It would be easier to get to :princess:

No kidding, I looked for the PHH when I was checking pre-load on my wheel bearings. I thought "I'll go ahead and tackle the PHH while I'm in here", I took one look and became instantly depressed and called it quits.

I'll get to it sometime in the next few weeks, really dreading it. It makes me especially sick to know that I had my valve cover off and didn't get at it then.

It is located on the cylinder head! Oops. Finally (after about a year) this will be installed:

Okay, I think I am confusing people, I did use all the preformed hoses purchased from Dan, I'm talking about the short straight sections coming from the length of OEM 5/8" (equivalent) and the short straight sections coming from the length of Gates 1/2". There are prolly four sections if i remember right that are straight on the firewall. HTH
