the only thing thats wrong with it is, no wipers and the windshield has a pretty large crack on the passenger side. I was just gonna get it registered and titled so I don't get fined.what's wrong with it? Mo inspections are not that difficult. exhaust, working turn signals, wipers, no major cracks in the windshield and nothing scary like bad brakes and or steering. it might be best to ask for help fixing the items that are wrong so it's safe to drive and then it will easily pass inspection. more than one of us are willing to help you get the vehicle safe.
I'm trying to have it road legal so I can drive it for fun in between trips to the trails. By the way, where do you usually take your FJ-40 to wheel at? After I've got some of the mechanical problems sorted out and the engine tuned up, I'll be itching to take it on a trail.windshield glass is approx $60 -90 from toyota and a simple instal with the proper rope and a spray bottle of dishwashing soap for lubrication. Do you need the wiper arms? Or linkages? It just seems to me it would be best to fix it for the Mo inspection.
If your just getting the title in your name you don't need to have an inspection. You can have the PD / Highway patrol come out and do a vin verification to get your title. there is no fine associated with that process. And you get the title within the Mo timeframe / statutes. There are many of us that have vehicles that are not "street ready" in our garages.
Last time I went thru this process I called the non emergency # and asked if they could send someone over for a VIN verification on a vehicle so I could get a title. Guy was there within 5 min.. Much to my amazement.. I did give him a copy of toyota trails to show him I wasn't nutso and this is indeed a normal hobby.
If you need further help i have 2 buddies in Columbia but they are not on mud much.
