Hi, this is for Robert's truck, he managed to shear the teeth on the center housing gear somehow and we need a replacement. I don't care if it's blown or damaged as long as the teeth on the side of the shift fork are fine on the housing. The 80 (rear carrier) and 60 center housings should be interchangeable. Give me a shout if you have one.
photos of damage soon to follow....

What was the cause of that ????

Well that explains why he said his locker didn't seem to be working.
i have seen these problems before, and some issues causes it was , #1 : not fully enguaged while shaft are turning on load #2: the actuators or cables are sticky causes not fully enguage or it was trying to enguage while driver are not aware of it.

Like John stated, there was a big rage for cable lockers a few years ago and a lot of the hard core guys bought in. After failure upon failure most trashed them for other forms of lockers, i.e. ARB's. Though ARB's are not indestructible, with minor maintenance they will last a good long time. I think the hard core guys said big tires and tons of torque did the cable lockers in. I'd bet they would last a good long time with very little service with slightly larger than stock tires and factory gearing.

Robert went wheeling into the same places I did with my 60. I can only think of one reason why it would have done this. It must have happened not fully engaged with the wheels spinning and grabbing onto something. Since all the other gears have continuous contact this is the only "weak link". Luckily out of the 5 teeth that broke off only 2 looked like they were fairly complete, the others all shredded. One must have been caught op in between the ring and pinion gear and chipped a tooth, the rest stayed down low and didn't damage anything. Because of the design you can still use the diff as an open diff, which is good. Now time to find new bits....

thats harsh.

have you tried to see how much a new part is? sometimes its worth buying new if there is not that much difference in the saving. at the end of the day, you may end up with another half worn part.

Rob should get a 'backyard parts truck' - sell the 12HT to partially recoup the investment

With 'camouflage foliage' to help with the visual impact of 'Matt's Gently Used Cruiser Parts' LoL
