Could someone be kind enough to post a picture of there original 1977 era handbrake lever to show me how the spring is installed. If I place it where I think it goes it is loose when the lever is pushed in. So loose that the spring is almost falling out of the lower tab that is part of the tub. Maybe something of mine is bent or damaged.
Thanks,
Chris

@Chris Wilcox

I have a '73 FJ40, and my spring is loose in the retracted position as well:

Chris, mine is a 78, the one you pull thats under dash, Is this like yours ??

My spring looks the same as the image above and the tab welded to the tub (blue) looks the same. My lever arm has a bracket instead of a bolt to hold the top of the spring.

I can see the one above is loose as well. Maybe that is just how it is supposed to be. Thanks for taking the time everyone.
Chris

anybody know where you can get this spring new or a similar spring? 1977 fj40

According to Mr T, spring #46301a (spring for intermediate lever) is now replaced with Toyota 90506-20060 so maybe this will work approx $9.35
