[FONT=&quot]Some Spanish friends gave us a paella pan a few years ago and we just never got around to using it. I stumbled across the pan yesterday while cleaning out the garage and decided it was time.

I've watched paellas being built, but usually had a beverage in hand and never paid too much attention. I decided to just wing it.

Each of my family members got to pick an ingredient. We settled on shrimp...

I did use some $affron, but apparently not enough to give the paella its traditional yellow hue:meh:


Paired it with some cheap swill...

... and am very happy with how it turned out! Even my boy who can be a picky eater and usually avoids seafood went back for thirds:D

If I use crab again, I'll try cooking it separately from the rice. Done the way I did it above, the whole dish has a pretty 'crabby' flavor - awesome if you like crab (which we do), but might be too fishy for some guests.
