Egad snap forward to 2023 and now we have stupid things called DPF's on diesels and equivalents becoming common on petrols. To date Toyota doesn't have a landcruiser (or any 4wd/ute) requiring AdBlue which is not really a 'dilution solution' but still just as batty as you have a 'furnace under the floor'.Nope. The "pulsed air injection valve" is used to inject air into the exhaust when the engine is cold or decelerating to reduce emissions, i.e. the "solution to pollution is dilution". You won't be putting more junk in the air, it will just be less diluted. No harm to the cats , as they will still have to burn off the same amount of unburnt fuel, it will just happen later into the warmup cycle.

Never heard of that PAIR thing until just now - was it a US-only feature (so only fitted with 1fzfe lexus lx450's for the US market)?
My '93 JDM has it. So no, not just a US thing. My EGR system is different, but PAIR seems identical. Can't say if it was US only, but I wouldn't be surprised. It was only 2 years, 93 and 94. The 1FZ pre-OBD2 in the US. The piping is some really nice stainless thought...
