That's very cool. Thanks for the demo.

On the last picture the camera shows all the fine scratches, but they aren’t that bad. It just shows up with the flash at that angle.
Also a clear coat can be applied as well.
I’ll do a clear coat on the same piece and see what happens & get back with some pictures.

To really be a definative redneck test, you need to shoot at it and then set it on fire.

Seriously, that held up WAY better than I thought it would. Makes me wonder why the powder coat on my ARB was peeling when I took it out of the box.

I called and said flat military black and got a lesson on powder coat and the need for uv protection. The military does not use the kind with uv protection because of the need for absolutely no shine whatsever.

Actually most US military vehicles are painted with CARC (Chemical Agent Resistant Coating) which looks like a powder coat but is actually a flat polyurathane paint designed to shed chemical agents and ease equipment decontamination. The CARC is actually not that durable and has to be touched up on a regular basis.

Not sure why it was pealing, perhaps there was some oil or foreign substance on the metal. Steel should be sand- blasted for the best adhesion. The test panels are pre-boxed and are fairly clean, so we didn’t even clean it before the coating was applied. What does the metal look like where the PC pealed?
