I have a set of OEM hubcap wheels that are widened and, regrettably, powder coated black. The powder coat is a flat finish, not glossy at all.

I plan to rattle can them gray. How much prep, aside from cleaning and wiping-down for a good finish? I suppose I could scuff them a bit, but like the idea of the powder coating remaining to protect form rust...

I'd really like to just clean and paint and call it good. What say you?

Thanks,

Use some scotchbrite pad just to knock any gloss or crap off, I painted the front wheels on this rig Sat, the rears are drum and the front are now disc, a CCOT resto, and it is a dead on match. I can get the name and brand in the A M for ya.

Sweet truck Butch, grey is the only way to go, seen them white and black.

Powdercoating is over rated, hard to touch up and can cause some rust issues once the finish is broken, creeps like undercoating allows once hardened.

Nice shot of the Baker tire in the back ground.
