P2714 Pressure control Solenoid 'D' performance/stuck off

I've got a 2015 GX460 with 183K miles and it's been a great daily driver for me. Recently the engine light came on and the code is this P2714 pressure control solenoid. It drives just fine and I haven't experienced any transmission related issues. The dealership says they won't open up the transmission for some reason or another and the only option is a new transmission for around $8K. Curious if others have experienced anything similar and if there are any other options to resolve.

Hey crew! I know many of us have been affected by this issue with some replacing their transmission at around 80-180k for $7-8k.

On all forums and groups this appears to be a mystery with pockets of info here and there. I’d like to collect all the info and hope others who properly fixed it WITHOUT buying a new transmission can let us know what the real issues is as normal Toyota dealers and Indy shops usually recommend replacing the solenoids and eventually the whole...
