Got this P0446 code yesterday and have been searching and coming up short.

I know it has to do with the evaporative emissions and is likely the valve at the charcoal canister with the 2 wire plug.

I'm guessing it's a purge/vent solenoid valve, but I can't seem to find a part number for this wasted electrical valve. I discovered the spare tire went missing (which made finding the charcoal canister simple) what looks to be quite some time ago and the valve has completely corroded from the unprotected blast of salty New England road brine.

So I'm looking for this valve part number or correct description/ID. Also looking for one 18" wheel & stock size tire if anybody's got one available.

Thanks.

Here's a pic of the part I'm trying to describe

I'm guessing that the nub shown in pic #3 & #4 needs to be touching the non existent steel case that has been corroded away and without the case, the circuit cannot be completed that would close the valve.

Thank you very much.

It is the one at the charcoal canister. 90910-12268.

Will this switch work if "floating" or must it be fastened to the mounting plate which is pretty badly corroded?

Replaced the vacuum switch at the charcoal canister. Part #90910-12268. Had to buy a reducing connector and a foot of 1/8" hose. Original vacuum hose is 1/4". New valve is 1/8" hose. Got the old screw out that holds valve in place and was able to reuse it. The valve fit like a glove where the old one came out despite looking different than the original. The original part has been discontinued and replaced with this new one. Maybe the smaller ID of the hose keeps the charcoal from entering the valve body and ruining the valve.

Disconnected the battery after install. Lights out. 50 miles and lights still off.

Thanks to beno.

For the right part and speedy delivery. Ordered on Friday, arrived on Monday, installed on Tuesday because I had to get the 1/8" hose and couplings.

Thanks for the link.

The cable is fine and the mechanism works like new.

I'd have to say the spare was not quite ripped off, but stolen all the same.

Posted too soon.
Lights back on.
Switched hoses around and try again.

Anybody know the correct plumbing diagram?
The silver port is now and was previously open to atmosphere.
I now have the port opposite and inline with the silver port going to the intake manifold.
The port parallel to the electrical connection is going to ithe charcoal canister.
Don't think that silver port has to be teed into one of the hoses but not sure.

Did your light stay off? Did you get codes 441 and 442 along with the 446, as I did. I also have a 2003 and found that my vsv was as rusty and nasty as yours. I'm hoping that is the issue. BTW, my dealer told me that the vsv was not sold separately and that I'd have to buy the whole canister

I know this is an older thread, but looking for some info.
I'm throwing the same code p0446. I've been testing the voltage at the rear charcoal canister VSV and I'm only getting 2.6v unlike the 12v on the other two vsv valves in the engine bay when the ignition is on. Is that normal voltage, or is that my issue?
