Unfortunately early August was a period of fire bans, and there were very few places where we could go camping to which these didn't apply. Nevertheless, this actually forced us to find some amazing campsites we would have otherwise overlooked!

This is a beautiful, free site where we were totally alone except for the campsite caretaker.

Some fishing tackle I pulled out of the nearby creek.

After this trip a fuel filter replacement was badly needed and solved some engine starvation we were having...

And from this point on, my summer became a cycle of "to the airport by HZJ78", land, go camping, "to the airport by HZJ78".

After a quick jaunt to Europe, back to Canada and back to camping (it was actually quite ridiculous, I got back and was called back nearly immediately, making it the most wasteful and expensive camping trip ever...)

On that trip, we "discovered" a campground that was amazing... but became spectacular if you got one of the precious four spots on the lakefront (which are generally occupied, long-term, seeing as this is another free campground). We still had a great trip, and noted this location for a future visit.

And I had to update the Sony head unit. Very user-unfriendly, had to search through my box of pen drives to find one that was accepted by the system (even after formatting multiple!). In the end it one was with 512MB... From those days where that was a lot of memory!!

and then some last-minute errands before leaving abroad once again.

With a stealth-camper Delica ;-)

After a busy trip, and yet another trip, I was supposed to have two weeks "free". Unfortunately that didn't really work out the way I had wanted and I could only go camping for a few nights... Nevertheless, the fire bans in BC had been lifted and therefore we retraced our steps from one year prior.

First campsite - mushrooms! (Yes, they are edible)

Was waiting for someone to ask 🔥
looks like I can't buy because it's probably hazmat :-(

In the meantime, my dad figured out a solution to our rear washer cover - obviously with the new panels this didn't fit properly (it was simply loose). Yes, that's a toilet seal!

By the way, I only found out from the manual that the cap is shaped in such a way because you can use it as a mini-funnel while filling that rear container 💡. Genius Toyota.
