Oxford Toyota charging more than full retail price for parts

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, Skimlinks, and others.

Search for parts from 10 dealers and you'll find a wide array of prices for the same part. Different dealers have different mark ups.

Can't say that it's normal but who knows during this time we live in. We have 2 sponsoring dealerships for LLK. I pretty much recommend one for parts / service and the other for sales based on the relationships (and feedback I've gotten from people) I have with them. Northshore Toyota is the one I use for parts and service. The list prices quoted to me are the same as the ones on the site you listed. But we do get a discount at our sponsoring dealers

They arent selling any cars so they have to find ways to cover their net.

What's the best way to ask "Give me a discount"?

I talked to the parts manager and he said his markup is called "Matrix Pricing". Whatever the f*** that means, I hate corporate buzz words since it's been my life for 20 years. Anyway, he said the online stores sell for 5% above cost and he could give me 10% above cost (AKA employee pricing) on "bigger" orders....again, what the f*** does "bigger" mean.

Y'all are gonna love this part.....I was able to talk him down to MSRP for my 6 spark plugs! Went from $2.64 to $2.22 a piece.........Hey, it's the principle of the thing....right?

Matrix pricing……
This is a IBM program sold to owners as a way of increasing profits. This program is used in many other industries. Matrix pricing means some programer who doesn’t know their ass from a hole in the ground decides what price should be charged for each SKU as compared to the traditional way of pricing.
The traditional way of pricing…. Markup a set %. Simple.
The Matrix system assumes the sales person is too stupid or unwilling to charge the correct markup. Matrix also assumes the customer is too stupid to notice he is getting overcharged.
Our company introduced this bulls*** about four years ago. It did pull up profits for several branches but I didn’t have much change at my branch because we are consistent with our markup. The only thing it did for us my branch was create more work.
Fuc Matrix.

I am not in the automotive industry.

Lots of dealerships with internet stores that offer deep discounts. For my larger items that I don’t want to pay shipping Brookhaven Toyota gives great discounts. I know that does not help you in Oxford

Carlock in Tupelo will discount prices on OEM parts.
You'll have to teach me how you got a discount out of them. I live in Tupelo and have had to purchase several parts from them because I needed next day. Not once have I gotten a discount on ANYTHING. If anything they are consistently much higher than full retail. Getting a discount on their prices would still be higher than retail I assure you. The cheapest parts prices I have found are from Serra Toyota in Birmingham. They are consistently the cheapest. They also have free shipping on any order over $100. I purchase everything from them. I save carlock for small gaskets and things that I have to have next day.

Yeah, I don't know if it requires that you buy from them online to get the lower price or not, but when I've done a search on pricing, they were priced really close to McGeorge (who I've always found to be the lowest OEM supplier - unless you can find something Partsoug can ship inexpensively.) I've not bought from Carlock, but the only reason is that the price + shipping from others was less expensive than price + shipping + MS sales tax. I made the suggestion to buy from them, because HN90 had the option to buy online and pickup from the dealer (as you would.) Check their online pricing and see if it still applies.

Gotcha, I'll definitely check their online system. Thanks
