I'm always surprised to read anything that even borders on positive about Mississippi in the national news media. This is a pretty complimentary piece.

Faulkner and Football in Oxford, Miss. - NYTimes.com

BTW, I'm hearing from friends in Austin that all Oxford area hotels are already booked for the 2012 game with Texas.

Oxford hotels are always already booked up for any home game. Even as detestable as the football program is, the town still draws people like a moth to a flame.

Lot's of Yankees moving to Oxford. So far they have not f-ed it up too bad, but I am sure it will be like Austin before long.

I hope Oxford is spared that terrible fate. There's not much of old Austin left, thanks to pollution by Kalifornia immigrants. This place is so screwed up I doubt it'll ever be quaint again. Our city council loves nothing more than bulldozing old historic buildings to make room for more fugly high rise condos.

Oxford, home of fake boobs and real assholes.

Except for Lash.

You've already hurt my feeling once so that obviously can't be it.

Heading out to Jacktober Fest or as Grog would call it, "Never, Never Land"

Thanks I guess?!?

I was even born in Oxford and lived there for the first 9 years of my life before our move to Jackson in 1977. Very happy I grew up mostly in Jackson, but I would not mind moving back some day.

You can find a$$holes anywhere you look. Oxford probably has a few more than Starkville, but not many.

Never spent time in Oxford but did hunt ducks nearby at my friends farm. Haven't been back up there since we buried him there on the farm.

Oxford Town

I have great memories of Oxford and hope it never morphs into a little Austin. My Mom graduated from Ole Miss in 1942. I attended my uncle's graduation in Oxford several years later when I was less than a year old. Never lived there but have visited many times over the years, most recently last September. Aside from the proliferation of high dollar restaurants, it doesn't feel much different from the 50's.

You gents want to see fake boobs and real assholes, come to Austin.:lol::cheers:
