Yes, this is another thread where I am venting at the bull sh*t that is all around us.
I go into Lordco today to grab a wiring kit for a trailer attachment for my truck, on the shelf it sits in a little box with a price tag of $22.49. Happily I go to the cashier and give our Coastal Cruisers account to get the usual discount, she prints the bill out at $23.something. So I look at it and see the list price of $29.99 and our discount off that. I asked the girl what the hell is going on - the price on the shelf is different then what the bill says - now this is the 3rd time I have seen this happen. So she tells me that our discount, and coincidentally the one we get through 4WDABC is only applicable to the list price, and on the shelf is an "already discounted" price. So, being Monday and me already bitter, I call on the manager and he pretty much tells me to take it or leave it as this is something that head office decides. Screw them:flipoff2:. There is a very good reason why I go to B&J or Coquitlam Auto to buy my stuff, I get better service, no bull and real prices.
So the next time you buy something at Lordco - pay close attention to the shelf price and what is on the bill.

that happened to me too...when i was buying some synth gear oil. shelf price was $13.49, and after i gave the acct # i usually use, i saw on the receipt, the list price was set at $16 something and discounted price was $13.49..wtf?!?

then i realized that the same ltr of oil was cheaper at CT and walmart. as is their motor oil. f'in lordco and their "discounts"

only thing i buy there are actual "parts" where they actually apply your discount. any other needed bits and pieces are found elsewhere...

Didn't know the club had an account there. I have an account at Gerry's in Abby but I usually call Lordco and ask for a price. Depending on who I get, the price can drop big time. Don't believe the BS the manager gave you Mat. Their counter staff and manager can knock off a big chunk - if they want to. One day I picked up lights off the shelf and needed some hose. The guy behind the counter knocked off $40 off the Hellas and 30% on the hose. Another time I needed rotors and pads, Lordco wanted nearly $150 more over Gerry's for the same brand and the guy I talked to wasn't interested in giving me a discounted price. So, I wouldn't write off Lordco, but I would call other places to get a price. Oh, and always ask if that is their best price. If it is Lordco, make sure you get the name of the parts desk guy who gave you the price, otherwises it will likely be a different price when you get there. The only place I don't bother with is NAPA, three times asking and they would not bother giving me a discount.

I haven't stepped foot in Lordco in four years for that same reason Matt.It such a staight out scam.

where in burnaby are they?

Lordco is good for locations and hours, but I prefer to part shop at Burnaby Auto parts whenever possible. And they have airmiles!

I often go to NAPA in Vancouver east of 2nd & Yukon for parts. I went the first time and showed them my 4X4ABC discount card that I hold for Lordco. They agreed to give me a discount from now on whenever I go in there. One big difference in price was a rebuilt carb for my wife's Olds. Lordco wanted something like $300. and NAPA came up with the same one for around $175, same brand, I think Trimline or something like that. Sometimes they don't have the full range of parts as Lordco so I have to go there instead. I noticed Lordco brake parts quite expensive now. Its definitely worth the trouble of looking into getting the NAPA discount catagory. Just go in there and chat with them, show them your 4X4ABC card, your CC card, and keep kibbitzing until they say OK.

I think we might have a president in this club that should take care of stuff like this. Bill - do you want to write that into his next meeting's speech maybe

I dont think I met the prez yet

where in burnaby are they?

Almost right beside the Lordco on Edmonds, near Canaday Way. Between the Oliver Twist Pub and the Lordco to be even more specific. I find using a pub as a landmark really seems to help most people ;)

Burnaby Auto Parts - Performance Engines Auto Parts Vancouver, BC, Canada. Shipping.

And for what its worth, Lordco seems to have several different "discount" rates. BAP as far as I know has NO discount, yet is usually cheaper than Lordco for the exact same thing even though they get it all from the same warehouse.

Here's oldie but goodie for you Mat.

20 years ago I kept blowing (from water) the electrical module on my 84 jeep. I went into Lordco and they sold me one at $169. Three months later I was at Boston Bar and blew it agian. I went into the dinky gas station there and the guy had to order one from Hope, it was only $129. That one blew a few months later, so I decided to get one more and mount it in the cab.

Here's the funny part. I phoned lordco and told them how much I payed at Boston Bar. The guy said he would see what he could do for me. So I showed up at the Westwood location and some guy I'd never seen before thought I was a friend of one of the guys that worked there. So, he gave it to me for staff price (cost plus 10).

Here's the differance (around 1990):
Lordco shelf price: $169
Boston Bar (including shipping from Hope): $129
Lordco staff price: $79 !!!

Yep, they suck!

Um, what they are doing is illegal... shelf price is the advertised price, and according to the law, they have to sell that to you for that price... heheheh... business law classes rule! Unless they have a HUGE visible sign that says otherwise and alerts you to the price differences, they can not do things like that!

The staff at Lordco are not helpful, and head office needs to train their staff on customer service. Seriously, write in a letter of complaint to head office, and also mention the negative publicity that they will be getting through word of mouth advertising... word of mouth is still the most powerful advertising tool that consumers have control over!

I have had some crappy service from Canon (yep the camera company), Kal-Tire, and a few other businesses that really did a poor job. A letter goes out and lo-and-behold the letter was responded to with an apology and things were made right for everyone involved.

Cheers

I will sit down and write one - even though most of the time that does not accomplish that much. Hopefully it will actually get us a decent discount for the club.

Where the hell have you been? ever since you sold your 60 I barely even see you posting on here.

It might get noticed if it is on club letter head. We have Coastal Cruiser letter head, right?
