one of my pigs is quickly turning to dust but has good chassis, motor, etc. actually runs perfect.

besides cutting one up for a trail rig...

has anyone ever fitted other available bodies to a good 55 chassis?

I was thinking maybe a long bodied fj40 or fj45 maybe custom made by aqualu.

anyone done this?

Years ago trying to make up my mind between a Carryall or a 55 I was watching an African nature safari, you know them, fancy LandRoveroverpaid in the foreground, through the background went a 55 rusted to the body outline like rollbars. Made my mind up right there. Seriously, move the gas tank, bob the back and you have a long wheelbase 40. like a troopy, maybe put a 40 or troopy body on it. hey how bout a minitruck body?

You won't have a full size troopy if you go with a 40 body onto a 55 frame. The 55 lacks about a foot in wheelbase compared to a real troopy. Not to say that it would not be cool. I have a SWB troopy.

I have heard that a Stout pickup will go onto a 55 frame pretty well. Now, that would be cool.

Search "Frankenstein". A guy in the North East fabbed a 40 body onto a 55 frame. It is a cool truck that was assembled from various 40 parts and sits on a 55 frame.

Howdy! Boy, I never would of thought of a Stout. In fact, there used to be a 66 pretty complete in my local PicNPull. I haven't looked for it in a while. I once had a dream of refurbing it and dropping in a 4.3 Vortec V6. John

excellent ideas, thanks, will hold on to it for now and let my imagination run wild:)

Make a display out of it for an Old Navy ;p
