I came bought these the other day from a friend who had stuck them in his storage years back. I was considering putting them on my FJ60, but have decided not to, and was wondering if anyone knew what they originally went on. They are 15 inches tall, and 8 inches wide I may be open to selling them

not stock , and really worth about $15
they might be stock for something else...idk but i have never seen them on a hilux / 4runner.
our trucks had simple black ones that had "4x4" in white lettering if im not mistakin'

The new ones say 4x4 (like on the Tacomas). The ones on the 4Runner (87) I'm parting out say 4WD.
Definitely look aftermarket to me. Looks like a real generic shape. Awesome all the same though.
You could also get some dealer-installed OEM ones at the time, I have a set for my truck. They are pre-drilled and cut to go inside the fenders and use the existing screws for the plastic inner liners.
They show up on eBay occasionally, example:
