I was not being critical, I was simply saying for my needs the flat step of the 2x6 seems like it would be nice. I have the Metaltech sliders and the round tube sticking up kind is kind of a pain. And I agree you don't need cat protection for most people's uses. I mean to be honest the majority of these trucks are not running Rubicon. Like I said earlier I am glad you got exactly what you wanted and hell you can't get much these days for $350 so you did great cost wise!

I didn't take yours as being critical. Sorry my response sounded that way.

Yeah but sometimes theres objective truth. And sometimes the truth just hurts.

Again, you're judging the welds from 7-8 feet away. That's bizarre as hell. It's also transparent as hell.

I feel for you, but when you post pics of something to 'brag', people are going to evaluate and judge the work. If it looks good they'll compliment it, if not, they'll offer their criticism. Frankly, in those pics those welds look like poo. If you'd have said 'Hey, look what I did with my new welder' you'd have probably gotten some more considerate but still critical comments. You said 'Look what I paid a professional to do for me'. From what I can see, no professional should have let that out of his shop.

If you really believe that the pics don't do the welds justice, post some close-up pics. Maybe sand off some of the goop. Hell, share this thread with the shop owner and let him defend it if he wants.

Personally I couldn't care less how you design your sliders- if you're happy with it they are perfect. That price is insanely cheap, like half of what I'd expect for a great deal on installed sliders. So, two out of three points ain't bad. :D

Come on, dude! The welds are just really ugly. Admit it! haha!!

This is such a classic example of getting what you pay for. I think it's cool that this community expects quality work. Cheers!

Again, these pics are from 7-8 feet away. You can clearly see where the bedliner I rolled on looks like absolute crap. There's drips and clumps of it covering the entire surface of the slider on both sides. If you guys can't tell the difference between a weld & gunked up bedliner, your opinion isn't worth the time it took you to post it.

Make fun & take jabs at the bedliner all day. I should have known better than to keep it in an outside storage building.

Still waiting for those other pictures....

And you'll keep waiting. We've gotten about 3 inches of rain this weekend. When it dries up, I plan on sanding down the drips and gunked up bedliner and giving it another coat. Then I'll take pictures for all the slack jawed onlookers.

Transparent?

The comments are offered on the evidence provided. At first I was totally on your side, but in all honesty those areas look bad, especially from that distance, which is surprising. Not sure how you expect us to figure out that you globbed bedliner only on the welds. Yes, the coating doesn't look great, but there is a lot of 'buildup' positioned right where welds should be, and what is looks like is very shoddy welding. If that's not the case, then you have nothing to worry about. If those are welds, well, I've seen poorly welded things literally fall off trucks. You got honest feedback, did you expect anything else?
