Hey mud,

I have had many cruisers in the past, and currently have a 1974 fj40, 1988 fj62, and a 2016 200 series. The 200 is our family hauler, and we really like it. I am thinking of picking up a cruiser that my business pays for for my daily driving and business road trips (I am in the food business).

I have found a semi-local 2008 200 series with 157,000 miles on it, and it looks to be in good shape. Seller is asking $24,000 which I think is a good price. Anyone have any opinions or know the differences between the 2008 and 2016, other than probably a transmission and computer difference? I am either going to grab this 2008 or look for a lower mileage 100 series for the same duties. I have had (2) 100 series, and they are also very good rigs...

thanks in advance,

Joel

If you want some details on year differences, scroll up to the 200 forum FAQs and then scroll down to the buying advice threads. Since your choice is between a 2008 or a 100 series, I'd recommend the 2008. Just do your due diligence checking out the 2008 and a complete PM if you buy. Check the radiator top and make sure the cabin filter compartment flap works (open only in RECIRC mode). You'll have something to look forward to everyday for your business travel!

The 200 will be better for road trips and better mileage. You can find 08's for closer to $20k or even below with similar mileage. Since you have a 200 maybe try an LX since you will get the cooler seats or a GX 460.

Thanks for all of the replies, and I am still in the decision phase. The 200 is definitely a different ride from a 100 series, and since we have had both, I can attest to the unique qualities of each.

cheers, and Merry Christmas!
