That looks pretty interesting. Maybe that's what I should do for my general exam :hhmm:

That's three HAM content posts you've made today Chuck. If I didn't know any better I'd say you are a closet HAM wannbe:D Actually, as of April or so, you will be the only board member that is not a HAM. I think you should go for it!

Really guys, it's not that bad and the benefits are worth it. Ok, off my soap box.
As always, the offer to help or answer questions stands. Either here or privately.

See you guys Saturday:steer:

I ordered my books for the April class. 24 seats and it's full with a waiting list. I learn better in a class environment, anyone who knows me knows that I am scatter brained and a little ADD. I never learn anything on my own, too much distraction :)

If there is enough interest I will help teach a class. So far it sounds like Luke and Chuck are motivated.

I took the free 50 question review in the online training site. Since I work in electronics and have experience in the basics I would have been pissed if I had to spend a Saturday in a class going over simple electonics and ohms law. My boss is a ham geek so showing interest in ham puts me on his good side. As long as I don't have to spend weekends talking to him on a ham radio.

Chuck,
Your already a 4x4 Geek...so being a Ham Geek isn't that bad. Might even bring your geekdom ranking up a bit!!:flipoff2:

Cool Chuck, sounds like you may be on your way. Here is a link that gives multiple, simulated tests. These are the actual test questions. Keep taking until you get 90% consistently and you will sail through the actual test. I found this site very useful as far as simulated tests.

Took the technician test today and passed it then took the general test and passed it as well.

I ordered a Yaesu FT-60R HT (hand held) radio to start with.

New Ham in the Land!

Congrats Chuck - you should get your call in a week to 10 days, and by then you should have you new hand held figured out.

Enjoy,

Awesome job Chuck, now I need my General to catch up to you! I think your license will post this week, check on-line. That HT is one I was looking at as well. We can practice on the run next weekend.

I have to say I'm surprised they took your order without a call sign.

Congrats Chuck...now for Extra.:D

Awesome, got your radio yet?

The radio arrived on Monday.

I was looking at the available vanitiy call signs but the ones I want are already taken.

K0ool would have been nice but since it is a radio call sign it really makes you like a radio geek.
