Ed is going to attempt to install them again but, this time put the truck on the ground and get weight on the springs to see where they settle.

Hi, Just put these on our 1989 fj62. No problems. Mike

Just searched some more and see guys use ratchet straps to move the axle around.

Love this place. Sorry for the bump.

60s and 62s take the same springs, you just have to choose soft, medium or firm. They have an off-center pin, it sits closer to the front (military wrap end) than it does to the rear. If you look at a stock spring with almost no arch and compare it to a new OME spring with much more arch, the eye to eye length of the stocker will be greater. When they are in the same arch, they are the same length eye to eye. If you have springs with the pin in the center, they are most certainly not for a 60 series. I would hesitate to drill the springs. First, it is hard to do, count on destroying a pile of drill bits. The empty hole will be a weak point in the leaf as well and should they get pushed to the max, it would bend or break at that point. If anything, you could rill a new hole in the spring perch and in the tie plate so that the axle will sit fore or aft of the pin by whatever amount the available width of the perch/spring plate will allow.
