Oil not draining

If you were using a filter that did not have a check valve in it the oil would normally drain back into the pan when the engine was turned off. Since you changed to a K&N filter with a check valve that draining doesn't happen any more and the filter stays full after the engine is turned off. YOU WANT THE CHECK VALVE!!!! This valve helps reduce oil starvation on start up because the engine doesn't have to fill the filter prior to lubricating the bearings.

Poke a whole in the top of the filter after you drain the oil, wait ten minutes then remove the filter. It works like a charm, my 2F has the vertical oil filter and i got tired of oil everywhere.

I've had to remove oil filters that way. The danger is that it's driveable up to the point of piercing the filter, in case you can't get it off. Maybe make sure it turns a little before piercing it.

I've tried that poke a hole in the top trick and it doesnt work on the K&N's because of that check valve. Works great on the OEM's though. I like the K&N's because of the check valve, their bigger and mostly the 1" wrench nut on top. No more bloody knuckles with the filter wrench. Just drop down a 1" socket on an extension and turn.

Thanks for all the help guys,

Brian
