What's up with the lumbering white rhino? Besides the loose nut in the driver's seat. Not still having issues with the water pump from a few months back are ya? Do tell, who knows we might be able to help or at least add insult to injury. Kris

I can't keep diff oil in the diffs. I'm going to remove both diff carriers and weld the drain ports closed from the inside. Then I will grind the outside smooth. While I'm there I will rebuild the knuckles. I figure it'll be down for a while.

I thought we were goin' to Hawaiian Tropic Zone for beers and wings?

What are you doing to it, ripping the drains out on Voodoo? Before you get all nutty welding the drain closed have you considered drilling and tapping to a slightly larger plug size and welding a better guard around the hole?

Use the solid gaskets rather than the crush type, they have leaked every time on me.

I have swapped emails with Dan at Ruff Stuff Specialties about such an issue.I want to be proactive and not have to screw around on the trail looking for my plug. At any rate he will soon have a large washer (for lack of a better word) to remedy just such an issue. Here is the important info from the email:

"I am awaiting some 3/8" "washers" for lack of a better name, they will
be 3/4" around the plug, grind off the old."

Like I had mentioned above, find a metric plug that is the next size larger, tap the diff, install new plug and weld said "washer" onto the housing. And yes while you're messing with the diff do a frontendectomy and freshen her up. I think welding the plug in is a little extreme and makes regular servicing much more difficult.

you just pull the bottom most diff cover bolt (replace the stud). not too bad for service...

I'm sick of saying "John.... your rears leaking all over the trail man...."
:D
