Hi mike - love this thread.

I've ordered the high clearance boot kit (both inner and outer) for my front CV axles that need to be replaced anyways. I have not yet lifted my GX 470, and don't plan on it for at least 6~ months. Might be a dumb question, but is there any downside to having a shop use the high clearance boots WITHOUT a lift? (i.e. too much movement/space inside the boot?) One of my boots are leaking so they definitely need to get done before that 6 month lift plan.

Hey bud

No problem at all. They can be used on an unlifted vehicle

Ok so I’m super new to the whole lift thing and I recently purchased a GX470 which I love. I thought this thread would really help me but now all the options have only further confused me lol. I don’t want to do too much of a lift just maybe a 1.5-2 inch lift with the front maybe being 1/2 lower. I’m one of those weird people that doesn’t like a true level, I always feel like the front looks too high. I would like to keep it as comfortable as possible and the most I plan to add is a roof rack with the spare tire mounted there. What would be my best option/combo? Only thing I have decided is that I do want to go with Dobinson. Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

Hey bud

The most common setup for a low height lift is C59-302 front coils for 2" with IMS59-50220 struts and C59-505 rear coils with IMS59-50701 rear shocks for 1.5-1.75" rear lift. Use c59-325 if it will be a heavy rack and any other constant weight below 200lbs will be added.

Add rear sway bar links and that's the minimum needed.

Thank you so much for the info appreciate your help!

Just updated the first post with the options, had some old info in there.

Random question. On the IMS kit, what would the result be if I put the 2” “extra load” springs on a stock GX? I plan to do bumpers down the road and don’t want to have to buy new springs. will it just ride stiffer? Or will the height be greater than 2”?

Thanks!

These on stock GX:
C59-352 - V8 - 2.0" lift, 110-220LBS front end load
C59-327 - 2" lift, 200-400LB heavy rear load weight

It will be taller and firmer until that weight is put on there. The front will be 1/2-1" taller and the rear about 1/2" taller without any weight.

Oof. Worst of both worlds. Glad I asked. Thank you!

It's like buying shoes that are 3 sizes too big and just dealing with it until your feet grow. Lol. Best to add the springs and added weight at the same time

I have a question regarding the WA59-522K - Rear adjustable upper trailing arms.

If I'm not currently doing heavy offroading, mostly seeing sandy Florida beaches and dirt roads. Since I only have a 2" lift, will I see a benefit from adding these? Specifically, is there a need to correct the pinion angle with only a 2" lift? I've seen minimal information published on adjustment after/during installation regarding the pinion angle. Any adjustment guidance would be appreciated!

Yeah, they're really not need. It's at about 3" of lift that the rear pinion angle gets out of whack. These would be recommended at 2" of lift only if your stock arms were toast or if the bushings were shot. Measuring pinion angle, there's a million videos on Youtube about how to do that. There's not a simple "set the arms to xxx length and you're good to go", it has to be one by measurements with an angle finder.

Appreciate the response. I'll keep them in my parts bin until next time I crawl under and replace things.
