Hey Everyone!
Newly released from the Backcountry Discovery Route team is the Montana BDR! This is an epic 900 mile route starting in island park and ending at the Canadian border. This season we will tackle section one. We will begin the route at the chevron in island park. Once we leave the chevron we ill take the red rock pass into Montana. The trail will be mostly two track roads. The section is 127 miles long so if you have a thirsty rig bring extra fuel. This will be different than routes we have done in the past, it will be more travel/overland oriented. What that means is there will be less stops and we will have to cover more ground than we are used too.
Meetup Sep 12th
Chevron In Island Park 9AM
44.52125, -111.3263
GMRS Channel 18
Length of route
127 Miles Bring fuel if needed
Trail Difficulty
Expect light technical terrain, most fire roads and two track
Camping
Almost the entire route is in areas where dispersed camping is allowed. I will find and suggest camp spots when I pre run the route.
Disclaimers
I have yet to pre-run this track so the length is yet to be determined. This could be done in a single long day or two short ones. If the days turn out to be too short I will consider added section 2 to this ride. (Virginia city to Butte)
