is your winch broke?

LOL! No! Unfortunately, I needed to use it, then knew I was going to need it on the next obstacle. I REALLY need 35's and some more lift... The photos of course don't do it justice but it was pretty vertical and I didn't really want to try a back flip.
Here is a spot that I didn't need a winch but Captain is about to s*** himself in the back there.

I believe the point was that the threat of your Iron Fist is keeping us in line.

But now Bart knows you are out of pocket......................

I'll be in Houston this weekend if anyone needs anything. I know some of you guys need things from Sean everynow and then, just putting it out there.

If you haven't seen it, Brian was posted as a fan favorite (well his FJ anyway) on Toyota's facebook page.

For those of you running synthetic line on your winch, how long of line are you using and what would you recomend? Has anyone ever looked into having a local manufacturer/distrubutor make you a synthetic winch line? I have a vendor that I use for synthetic slings and straps and I see that they also do synthetic rope but I have no idea what to ask them for to get a quote. Any help?

I have 100' of it on mine but it's a bit too long. Go with 75 and get an extension. You'll want a good quality line. Don't skimp. It's the thing you need to work when you need it to work. know what I'm sayin?

On a side note, I'm not sure you can put synth line on that HF; at least not easily. When we respooled your cable, I noticed it didn't use the regular method of attaching cable that i've ever seen. there was a hole in the drum and the cable was stuck in it. If you go to synth, you might have to alter the drum to make a mounting point.

Of course I'm not 100% sure about this. If anyone has done it, maybe they can chime in.

Cool Bart thanks. I'm really not in the market but I was ordering products from my vendor I and noticed it listed so I got curious. This is an industrial supplier for the marine and oilfield industry so I would imagine that the rope is as hi quality as anything that you would buy from an offroad supplier if not more so. You are porbably correct about the HF winch not taking synthetic or we would probably have seen it by now. I just thought I would ask in case I ever move forwward with something like that.

I went thru trying to buy line from a supplier here locally and it wasn't worth the hassle. Most won't sell you a piece. they will want you to but a full spool. It's just not worth it. Now if you were buying steel cable, buying local is the way to go.

I tried Contentinal and some other place on Jeff Hwy. I forget the names. they were huge suppliers.

Look: $219.00

If the hole in the drum is not threaded, a lot of guys use tape to hold the first wrap on the drum. Just don't make a pull with less than 2 wraps on the drum. :D

I have the m8000 that came with 85' of 3/8ths. I got 100' of 3/8ths synthetic on it now. Not sure why Bart would say that 100' is too long. I would want to fill the spool so there are more wraps left on the drum for any pull. Not to mention, if you damage the line and have to have it repaired, you may still have enough left to re-use as opposed to having to replace the whole thing. You can still get / use and extension if you want / need.

Totally agree! Did the same thing. Remember a while back I was trying to get a group buy going and no one wanted in........

I'm just funny like that. I'm thinking that I don't like too much line on the winch. I hate the line sinking to the wraps. I'd rather run an extension but even then that can cause problems. Remember when my winch line got stuck in the winch spool at Mt. Chocula.
