Selling my 1968 Fj40 factory soft top, original body and paint. I have the original soft top doors they will need to be refurbished and a set of hard doors. The truck runs and drives amazing I use it as a daily. But is far from perfect has lots of patina and rust! I built it over a few months it was a roller that sat in a barn for 30 years. I drive it daily, and make consistent camping and wheeling trips! The furthest I have drove it was from Florida to North Carolina over 1,200 miles to wheel it for 3 days and then drove it home. With no issue! On hwy gets 13.5mpg running 65mph. Truck does 65-70 no problem if you want to push it will run about 90 tops! Absolutely planted no bump runs straight as an arrow. The ride is great, nice and soft when I did the SOA the shackle angles are set to 45°the brakes are fantastic will stop on a dime! Does great in wet weather but you will get WET in the back seat. Overall fantastic drivability.


The Bad before the good.


• The 2F head has a new rebuilt and machined head with a hair line crack in one of the water jackets. The reason I replace the head was my original one dropped a valve seat one morning when I went to crank it. The new heads hairline crack was overlooked before durring or after the machining and rebuilding process. So it was basically free due to the mistake. Truck has never had an overheating issue and currently does not have an overheating issue. I don’t have oil in my coolant or coolent in my oil. I don’t have to add coolent. I have moisture in the valve cover and I alleviate that with a catch can. I can replace the head with a good used one if buyer is concerned. But I’m not truck runs great.

• Floor pan was gone when I purchased the truck. I used some 1/4 plate in the rear and a few scrap pieces in the front because I was in a hurry and needed a running driving truck. I have since purchased Reel Steel Front driver and Passenger pans to replace at a later date. They come with the sale.

• Wipers don’t work but I have not even attempted to check into that but the knob does nothing. There is a seller on eBay with new and refurbished units. Selling for 1k new or he will sell me one for $650 if I provide mine as a core. I’m not sure mine is even bad until I look at the wiring.

• Cluster lights up but not everything works. Truck has all new sending units. Temp, Fuel and Oil. Most of it is ground related and needs good grounds to the battery and the chassis. I am going to install a new cluster from Dakota Digital.

Now the GOOD! This is practically a FJ60 with a FJ40 body.

Almost all toyota parts that I have purchased were with Cruiser Matt’s Off-road in Winterpark.

Motor - 85 Fj60 2F Webber 38/38, desmog, long tube headers, TPI firecracker kit. Redline Heavy duty Fan Clutch. Champion 3 row aluminum radiator. 2” exhaust to flow master 40 series. Diehard Red top battery.

Steering - TPI Saginaw conversion w/ larger pulley. FJ60 PS box ported for hydro assist. PSI 1.75” bore 6” ram assist.

Drivetrain
1985 Fj60 H42 4speed, 85 Fj60 38mm splitcase.

Front Axle- 85 Fj60 axle w/ cut and turn. 12° pinion angle 5.5° castor. Moto Farkles diff armor. 4.11s w/locker using Marlin High steer kit.

Rear Axle - 85 Fj60 axle with Ruffstuff diff armor. 4.11s with locker but not installed do to daily driving.
Drive shaft - Tom Woods - Rear Double Cardan custom shaft.

Brakes - Fj60 booster with FZJ80 M/C full stainless brake lines. Braided stainless extended lines front and rear. 95 4runner calipers, stock rear fj60 shoes and drums. Fj60 parking brake with Fj80 handle. Parking brake will hold even if towing an elephant.

Suspension - SOA using some Ruffstuff parts and some design by Cruiser Matt. The front spring been out boarded. I’m using both front and rear Fj60 OME springs. 10” travel Bilstein 5100 shocks front and rear.

Winch - Viking 9,500Lb, Masterpull synthetic , Factor 55 thimble.

Lights - Truck lite LED headlights. And a set of New OEM Toyota glass H4 headlights. Headlight harness has been upgraded.
Glass head lights come with the sale.

Lightforce ditch lights that have some very decent output all I have needed so far.

Fuel tank - New Toyota OEM FJ40 tank and OEM fuel sender.

Wheels and Tires -

(5) Black rhino rift 17x9 -38 beadlocks.
(5) Kenda Klever M/T 2 35x12.5r17.

Stereo- Waterproof Rough Country sound bar that is good up to about 75MPH.
Waterproof 12v power outlet and twin USB-C 5 fast charging ports mounted in the ashtray location.

Interior - 97-06 Jeep TJ seats front and rear super comfortable. Front has a rip but I have new OEM foam to repair the seat.

New OEM tail lights plus a very clever 3rd brake light made with the original light that came on the truck. (Only had one)

Parts not install but come with the sale.
Real steel floor pans drive and passenger.
Metal Tech full family roll cage.
Pappy’s patina full truck kit, Matt gloss.
New driver seat foam.
4.88 gears front and rear 3rds.

Parts for additional cost
Chevy kingpin /D60 Narrowed 1tons converted to 6x5.5 $2000.
LS swap bell housing, throw out bearing and clutch arm.

Price is OBO. If your looking for very well sorted Fj40 that is rusty in all the right places that your not scared to drive and wheel this is it.

Titled and insured - Clean Florida Title IN MY NAME! I spent over 2k and 6 months to get this truck titled. Multiple appointments to the DMV multiple appointments to the regional DMV office for inspections. Due to the strict laws in Florida put in place 2 years ago. To combat the fraud and importing issue. If you buy a classics without a title and try to register it here lol good luck!
