Nope. I did it on a LX that I sold and I did remove the exhaust section.
I would think it's possible to do it with the exhaust still attached, but only if you have minimal rust.
I'm about to do it again on a LC and I'm going to remove the exhaust and do it right. Re-tap the threads and properly torque the nuts.
If you read my earlier post from 2023, I had a similar situation. I removed the exhausted, cooked the stud with a propane torch and then hammered on an extractor socket. That did the trick.
 
ohh word i confused you with OP who had the full stud. ok good to know!
 
last question: is that section of exhaust pretty easy to remove? or are you at risk of shearing even more studs by removing it?

It was pretty easy to remove. Again, just depends on rust and I had a good amount. I would probably replace the rear bolts, if they're bad. The front are three nuts that go into the next section of exhaust. Those are easy.

i see... so you gotta take out the whole cat? i assume that means you need new gaskets too? man i really forked myself by cross threading that o2 nut.

I didn't replace them and it was fine.
