Hey guys, have any of you ever bored out a small bearing 205 to accept the big bearing?

I have an empty GM case and a fully functional Ford case and want to swap parts. I have machinists at work who can bore the case. I've read that one should have the intended bearing on hand for the machinist to match the bore to.

I've also read that it should be a standard 3.5" bore.

Any thoughts?

Bore it to the bearing, should be a slight press fit. You should be able to slip it in by hand.

I want to build my own planetary doubler case to mount onto the GM case, but tight against it for the 2" extra rear dshaft length. I found new SS shift rods and will mod the rear shift rod to poke out of the back of the case and figure out a way to seal it.

At my day job we have a full machine shop and all we deal with is SS.
