As many of us have discovered, it is difficult to find a notebook with a screen that is readable in direct sunlight. Most cannot be viewed clearly inside our Cruisers on a typically sunny New Mexico day.

Dell has recently released the Latitude ATG (All Terrain Grade) notebook. According to this author, their technology is well ahead of other notebook vendors, including Fujitsu. Unfortunately, this is not a touch screen or a Wacom tablet, but they're getting there.

For most navigation purposes, I don't see a need for touchscreen or a tablet PC. It's hard enough to drive and glance at the screen, let alone mess with a stylus! Of course, YMMV as they say..

Agreed Ali, but a touchscreen is a lot easier than a mouse and keyboard when you're driving. :D

You'd think so but I don't end up interacting that much with a laptop while driving. Not sure what you do while driving but I don't do whole lot of mousing with the navigation programs I use. Heck, even using a tablet PC in an airplane is annoying at best so I can only imagine in a car while your attention is diverted elsewhere!
