Welp, been on the hunt for a old school toyota 4x for a little while now. I really wanted something that had been well kept, ran like a toyota should. ALL of the 4runners I looked at were either $2-2500 and had too many miles, ALL had supposed rebuilt motors and were very tired...

There were nice rigs out there in the 4-5k range that were what I was looking for, but 4-5k for an stock good running 80's truck is just nuts...

I drove from east springs to crested butte, fountain, manitou, rockrimmond(thanks Mark), and around the springs in general for a nice 4runner on the cheap and stumbled on to this thing.

$1500 paid yesterday for this 1986 4x4 toyota tercel Sr5. The motor is the 3AC, carb, 5 speed plus a granny gear. 159 rounds on the girl and EVERYTHING works, and it works great. From the a/c to the electronics it runs better than it deserves.
Very solid on the road, keeps up with traffic just fine. These things have 4.10 gears and it easily got to 60 for me on powers.

The pictures don't do justice for the condition of the interior, headliner/dash/seats/carpet are in crazy good shape.

Seriously looks re-done it's soo nice-none of it has been re-done im told.

I know, im not going to tackle the trails at penrose. ha/ or go through eagle rock without making the poor girl yelp. But, I plan on throwing a nice roof rack on for my mountain bike and tinting the window to make it a nice driver. Also plan on some aggresive tires, looks like I can use some generic spacers for a lift up front and some xj coils in the rear for a 2-3" lift.
Good chance i'll just run some aggresive tires for now and see what I can get in to :hillbilly:
Because my goals were to get a well kept exploration vehicle, I will be happly plus..... I think I got something that will suprise people offroad if I drive it right

You're gonna beat that pristine beauty up on the trail? One of those sold on eBay recently. Had 30k original miles. Don't remember the selling price but it it was about a bazillion dollars. See if you can flip it on ebay and use the extra $ for a 4runner.

Mehh, im not going to try to beat it up/ but I am going to have fun with it.
Not interested in selling stuff and buying stuff, im pretty burnt out with that dance.
Im 25 and this is my 27th? vehicle haha, this one is clean/bought it right, im going to enjoy it and be nice while having a good time.
Plus, how halarious will it be to see one of these on the trails showing up the new heeps with clueless drivers? Im really looking forward to getting yanking some stuff out on video :)

Wow. Didn't see that one coming.

I think it's pretty cool, does it have low range like the old vans? Not real sure about how much overhang it has front and rear, that's going to be it's biggest problems. I can't wait to see how it does on some trails. Let's weld up the rear spider gears and make it better! :grinpimp:

Went to rei here in town to pickup a nice yakima roof rack set up/ hopefully I can get a ride to drop off the thing for a 15percent tint soon too. Drove it to work today and man... fun little thing to putt around in

Sweet ride, but doesn't the club have a 4 low requirement? Guess you'll have to buy another Toyota :D Looking forward to seeing it in action.

Cute little car for running to work and back no matter what the weather. It will do great in the small snow storms that show up in the Springs. Now it is time to get a real 4 wheel drive to play with the big boyz.
