Hey all, having some trouble. I can get my 60 started, but it won't stay running when you put the choke in. It sputters out and dies pretty quickly. It's got gas, I opened up the carb and it's got a steady stream when I hit the pedal. I tried the "suck on egr valve" trick - no luck. Not sure which direction to go. Vacuum, fuel, timing? Any help appreciated! Let me know if you have any questions.

Is it a factory Aisin carb? Do you hear a click from fuel solenoid when you turn the key on? Is fuel solenoid hooked up?

Looks like your idle circuit maybe clogged or fuel cut off solenoid is an issue

AS STATED, check for idle solenoid operation. verify the solenoid works. remove it and spray some carb cleaner into the port. if trouble still exists, then check for vacuum leaks. Big ones. Check your PCV hoses, brake booster hose, and EGR. If you can get it to run with choke or a block of wood on the pedal, spray some starter fluid at the base of the carb, and the manifold to head junction, and other mentioned high volume vacuum devices. Spray a short blast, wait a second or two, and note if the idle quality improves or speeds up. If it does affect idle speed/ quality, then you are spraying at a place where air is getting sucked in downstream of the carb.

Hey all, just checked the fuel solenoid - no click with the key to “on”. Just pulled it out of the carb and the tip looks maybe broken off? Doesn’t look like any pics we saw online. Looks mangled. The tip clicks in and spring back out, but sometimes gets stuck inside.

May need to remove carb and blow out the idle circuit to get broken bits. Tiny straw and brake keen spritz may do the trick as well
