Meet in Clayton GA around 10:30 am on Sat 8/22 at the Chick Fil A (151 Highway 441 N Clayton, GA 30525)

We got some great trails that we have planned and plenty of seats to fill if need be (with AC).
Its not going to be to rough so stock trucks are more than welcome. The gameplan is to hit some trails around Warwoman. If you got any suggestions on cool spots in that area post them up and we will see if we can incorporate them in the day. Post up if your able to make it out so we can get a headcount.

I still plan to go, but trying to tamp down a new conflict.

Trails or dirt roads? Not much on riding dirt roads just to get to a dead end and turn around, but if there will be some wheeling involved, I'm interested.

Earls Ford? Charlies Creek?

Absolutely, those are two of the options on the table! Other ideas/recommendations welcomed!

I rode from Chimney Mtn Road east of Unicoi Park to Swallows Creek WMA yesterday. Chimney Mtn is getting some nice little ruts that can be a small challenge for stock unlocked vehicles if heading up the mtn instead of down. The rocky road to the right at the top is bumpy. One can take a right into Swallows Creek WMA(I forget the name of the road- stared with a C) and head down the mountain to 75Alt, head towards Hiawassee, right on 76, left on Upper Hightower and go down Charlies Creek, or one could stay straight on 76 to Clayton and drive back up Charlies Creek.

That sounds pretty cool, thanks for the suggestions.

Folks, everyone who's interested in this trip needs to post up ASAP. I'm working on a lunch plan but so far looks like only the three posters on this thread will be eating.

Dodd Road...

Just a heads up fellas, in case you guys are in the area and planned to run it but Dodd Rd. will be closed this spring.

Pisses me off every time I see this so sorry but gotta rant a little. I don't know how many times it takes before this community figures out that posting detailed trail information online is just damned stupid. Don't think I've ever seen a reference to it on this forum (Congratulations!) but to anyone and everyone that has run this rd and then posted a video to Facebook you deserve a firm punch in the face. This road was relatively unknown until a handful of local Jeep clubs starting bragging about it on Facebook just 2 or 3 years ago and now it's set to be gone.

Sad, I did a random search and yes, lots of videos. looked like a great trail.

Lunch plan fell through, so bring your own. Weather's looking good - milder temps than lately, clear Saturday but recent rain to keep the dust down.

Do ya'll have a HAM channel ya'll will be using? I'm 80% in, provided it dried out enough today/tomorrow to mow the yard- otherwise I'll be mowing Sat. a.m.

By the by for folks near ATL; I'm not sure of gas prices down that way, but gas in Gainesville is in the $2.30-$2.45 range. If you get off 985 at exit 24, take a left and go to the Kroger, gas should be around $2.309 less whatever Kroger card discount you have. It's $2.459 at the Racetrack just past exit 24, and will likely rise the further up 985 you drive.

I'll have my 2M ham, and I know Andrew has one also. We should have no trouble finding a simplex frequency to use. But to answer your question, we don't have a frequency "pre selected".

Guessed I jinxed it with my previous weather comments - looks like some rain this afternoon, clear tomorrow morning, then rain starting mid-day.

I was asking in case I (or anyone else) was running late and wanted to catch up to the group.

Still not sure if I am gonna make it.

Hope to see everyone tomorrow in Clayton. If anyone wants, PM me to exchange cell numbers for calling/texting in the morning if needed.
