This picture shows where my temp gauge typically sits when the engine is warmed up. I understand that these gauges are not programmed to be super accurate, but I'm curious if this is where most of you see the needle during normal operation (slightly above horizontal):

Thanks!

If you get a bluetooth OBD reader, you can use your phone to see the exact temp. My gauges are different in my 06. I used the bluetooth reader in my 99 4runner and was surprised to see the OEM gauge never moved once warmed up, but the temps would actually swing 10-15 degrees. Its good to know when you when you are stuck in traffic in the middle of a so cal heat wave. lol.

My gauge sits at a hair below the middle and runs dead on 190 Deg. per ScanGuage.

Much much much more important: why is our AHC light yellow instead of green?

90C (194F) per my Torque Pro most of the time. Warms up much quicker than my other vehicles, but stays stable afterwards. Beware of thermal shock modes, e.g. garbage truck or mail/post delivery vehicle: stop and go, run and stop with working engine over the hot asphalt in South.. Quite damaging, Chevron just released 15W-30 oil for those.

^ yours looks yellow too? Did the older models have yellow/neon AHC indicators?
I am not familiar with the 03 and up clusters. However, since I owned it the temp as been at the mark in the pic when warm, and the height control light has always appeared to be a greenish yellow color...

Last year, temp reached 220 I believe in (middle east noon with traffic) and air condition started acting up, turned it off. I decided to add extra fan in the front to help blow air in the engine and it works very well.
