Heyo everyone, well I’m having a little issue with the rear differential. On deceleration it’s making a lot of noise. It’s driveshaft speed. And now the seal has gone out, I’m guessing the piñon has a bearing that has gone out or something?

1) Check your U-Joints on the driveshaft.
2) Check the breather vent on the rear axle to confirm it is NOT clogged. If it is clogged, clean and replace.
3) The front pinion seal is leaking but could be caused by the two previous items. If those are good then you need to replace that seal. If it's growling on deceleration then you may need a rebuild on the bearings in the rear differential.

Looks like you have lost oil looking around the diff. Do you have oil in it?

The breather and u- joints are fine. It has gear oil. I think the pinion bearing must be failing. It all happened within 300 miles of operation. The noise started and kept getting worse, then today the oil leak. It has an appointment for tomorrow to see what’s happening.

Thanks!
