Just bought a 92 FJ80 and noticed today that the oil pressure gauge which had been running a little on the low side was now sitting squarely on the bottom. The engine is still running great and not over heating. Could it be a gauge problem or something more serious. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

What's the oil level on the dip stick?

Don't drive it until you get it figured out. I would install a manual pressure gauge on the engine to get a direct reading of oil pressure.

check the wire to make sure it's still attached to the pressure sender. also try GROUNDING the sender wire with a jumper wire to see if the gauge swings to the top.

If it passes both of the tests above, either the sender has failed, or you have no oil pressure.
