No more side steps

So today I took the side step off my 80 just to see how it would look. Yes sliders are coming but I have more stuff to do to it first. But after getting the passenger side off I noticed the exhaust hanging low. I know nothing is broken and that it was a change in the '97 model to reduce heat on passenger side but is there a way to tuck it up more? Feel like they would get pretty thrashed. I really want to remove thos

Some here have "cut'n'turned" the 95+ inline cats. Pretty sums up what you do. cut and rotate and done. That will gain you some more clearance. If looking for more most have added a 1" body lift and tailored in a over the frame exhaust. You maybe able to get away without the bodylift, but from what I recall it is a tight squeeze.
